“US Justice Department chicken price-fixing prosecution ends in Denver as the last case is dropped,” Denver Business Journal

October 26, 2022

In an article published on October 26, 2022 in the Denver Business Journal, Recht Kornfeld Shareholder and Attorney David Beller discusses the last of the price-fixing prosecutions being dropped. Beller, who was one of the attorneys at Recht Kornfeld that represented Claxton Poultry and successfully defended one of its executives against allegations of price-fixing this summer, explained that the ruling sent a message to federal prosecutors that justice deserves better than criminal prosecutions "based on misleading and out-of-context evidence."

“Unfortunately, this is a message that took years for the DOJ to hear, and at great expense to individuals, families and companies, but it’s fantastic that they finally did,” Beller said. “On behalf of everyone who is falsely prosecuted based on half-truths, damaged evidence and forced theories, I hope our justice system just got better, even if it is only a small step.”
